We have assembled a table of records across all categories. The "margin" figures show the gap to the next fastest result by a different runner in the same category.
Perhaps the most outstanding figure in the table is the margin between Keith Anderson's descent record and the descent time of any other runner. His fastest descent was achieved in 1990, two years before he broke the overall record; the descent time in the record-breaking run was 7:10. This highlights how hard the overall record will be to beat, because although there are probably plenty of top road/track athletes who could summit in around 22 minutes, that would still leave them needing to descend in 8 minutes - a time that has only been achieved by the very best specialist fell running descenders like Keith Anderson, Colin Donnelly, Gavin Bland and Mark Rigby. Will anyone be able to combine both skills?
