The poor forecast failed to dampen the enthusiasm for this event as 103 runners signed up to race around the Brecon Beacons. All were rewarded with clear views from the summit of Fan-y-Big as the morning rain and mist cleared leaving only a strong wind to contend with. Ben Gibbison of Dark Peak was first to the summit but was eventually pipped to the post by James Waldie of Cornwall AC. Who said southerners can’t run mountains? Helen Fines took the honours in the women’s field, breaking the course record by over 3 minutes. This was after her win in Saturdays Pen-y-Fan race.
