11am Sunday 10th July 2016.
A new record for the Fan Y Big race, even before the start! Highest number of entrants at 137. The unpredictable summer weather obviously failing to dampen the enthusiasm for racing over the Brecon Beacon fells.
Strong summit winds, scattered rain showers and drifting mist made conditions challenging. A strong run by record holder Pete Ryder (Brycheiniog) gave him a comfortable 1st place finish. Chris McMillan (Western AC) taking 2nd, closely followed by Robin Wood.
The women’s race was close with only 3 minutes separating the first three home. Nicki Morgan (Mynydd Du) taking the 1st followed home by Rhian Roberts (Mynydd Du) and Emily Harper (Brecon AC).
Lantern rouge prize goes to MV70 Tom Harrison (Mynydd Du).
Overall series prizes for the weekend went to Rhys Goodhead (2nd and 7th positions) and Niki Morgan (2nd and 1st).
