The Brecon Fans Race Weekend 11-12th July 2020
POSSIBLY... Two classic fell races in the Brecon Beacons, with free beer and food, and a village fête for good measure. As things stand at 16 March it's beginning to look like this year's fell racing might not happen due to Covid-19. We are suspending online entries to avoid giving people false hope, and keeping the situation under review. Keep training hard for the best races in the calendar, and we'll post here and on Facebook the moment we can be certain either way.
Day 1: Fan y Big Horseshoe Race
A perfect 10-mile skyline route, starting and finishing in lovely Llanfrynach. Created in 2007 by members of Mynydd Du, the race has proved popular with hardened fell runners and novices alike. More details here.

Day 2: Pen y Fan Race
A "short" race up the highest mountain in southern Britain, packing nearly 2000 feet of ascent into 3.5 miles. First run in 1986, the race has been tackled by all the top UK fell runners (see the results archive), and has a record time that many consider unbreakable. More details here.
Entering the Brecon Fans races online will guarantee your place and speed up your registration on the day. It might just inspire you to do a little more training too... See who has already entered.
Each race has a generous prize list for all age categories up to V80, plus M/F team prizes. There's an overall prizes (M and F) for the best performance across the two races, plus spot prizes for any notable performances.
Acknowledgements and Thanks
The races are run with the kind permission of private landowners and the National Trust.
Fell running club Mynydd Du provide backing for the races - equipment, helpers, and occasionally some decent runners.
